Miles Minions

The Lois McMaster Bujold Appreciation Society

Fact Sheet

Miles' Minions is the official Lois McMaster Bujold Appreciation Society. The Dendarii Dispatch is the newsletter of Miles' Minions.

The main purpose of the Dispatch is to provide information about Lois's convention appearances, book release dates and to allow Lois to easily communicate with her fans. It contains articles concerning Lois's work. It may evolve to cover other aspects of Lois's work.

The Dispatch was originally re-launched in early 1996 which coincided with the release of Cetaganda, published in hard cover by Baen and Women at War, also in hard cover this time from Tor and edited by Lois and Roland J Green.

A second important reason for the re-launch at this time was the appearance of Lois at Boskone 33 in February 1996 as Guest of Honor, and the publication (by NESFA) of Dreamweaver's Dilemma which includes all her previously uncollected short fiction.

It is initially intended to produce two issues of the Dispatch every year. The previous administrator has now given up and another re-launch, with a new team, will occur during early 1998. Currently the annual cost will be $4 for US residents and $5 for the rest of the world. Note that the Dispatch is currently on pause until a new editorial team can be found.

There is also an electronic discussion list on the Internet which you can join (if you have access to Internet email). The Lois McMaster Bujold Mailing List exists to allow discussion of the works of Lois Bujold. If you wish to join the list send an email to

Lois has written one fantasy novel, her first hard cover publication. The Spirit Ring (1992)

All the above have been published by Baen (except Dreamweaver's Dilemma, which is published by NESFA ) in the US and have been kept in print.

In the UK Lois has had mixed success, as her first publisher, Headline, didn't push her work. Her second publisher Pan has cut back their SF list. Her third UK publisher, Simon and Schuster UK, launched a new imprint in April 1998, and "Memory" is one of the launch titles. This imprint "Earthlight" will also publish "Komarr" later in 1998. Except for the Pan editions all the UK rights have now reverted back to Lois.

Warner Brothers did have an option on The Warrior's Apprentice and a terrible script had been written, but now the option has lapsed and the rights have reverted to Lois. The following list of awards is also from Lois.
